Adrienne Crowe

Adrienne Crowe

Resident potter and proprietor of Seraph, Adrienne developed occupational damage to her back and hands which led to developing an interest in personal pain management.  Over time curiosity led on to qualifications in Reflexology (ISR & SRI 1992), Shiatsu (ISS1993), and Yoga (IYA 2002), she trained in Thai Massage (Chris Huey 2000 & Nabin Thapa 2001) and now leads a varied life combining her interests over various fields.
She teaches one Clay Day a month in the pottery studio, and makes bespoke studio pottery to commission and to her ‘whim’ (when time allows).
She has developed a gentle Yoga practice for the relief of chronic pain, which can be adapted to any age group or circumstance of health; as long as you have breath in your body and the capability to move, even the tiniest, restricted movement, then it is within your gift, to yourself, to practice Yoga. Chair Yoga classes are for those of restricted mobility.
Dedicated wheelchair Yoga classes are held in another venue. Feedback.
On the web site you can find a lecture on Yoga During The Golden Years. This was prepared at the request of the Health Promotion Service, and is delivered during Pain Management Seminars to the Health Service Executive staff. There is also a lecture on Hand Massage on the web site, also for the HPS.

She teaches Yoga in Seraph and in Bell Villa,Meath & Bru Caoimhin, all community units for the older person, as well as giving courses on request in other venues.
She is developing a register of teachers interested in teaching the older person / special needs, to match to facilities looking for teachers. Anyone interested from either camp… please get in touch!
Adrienne’s interest in the suffering of the mind led to research back into the Upanishads, and is distilled in a series of papers . Working with one Paradigm at a time she conducts initiation into awareness of these levels of the mind in a deeply meditative day of reflection and gentle movement, leading to a holographic sense of the complexities within the inner being.
Her Yoga courses at Seraph are calendar month long, leading one into another.  Clients are invited to make a commitment to themselves to pay in advance, securing a place on the course, but are very welcome to drop in as their schedules permit, or to attend a class at a different time.

In the yoga classes we are working with the Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskara) mantras and hope to learn all 12 over the year, one a month. Using the posture related to the mantra and the theme of the mantra as a focus each month

Toastmasters International

Adrienne joined Toastmasters International in 1988 to help overcome a stammer and extreme shyness... these afflictions rarely bother her now! In June 2008 she was accredited as DTM, Distinguished Toastmaster, a long cherished dream that requires the completion of many leadership and communication tasks that often seemed unatainable.   Mind you, as with everything... there is still a lot to learn and polish, she ain't finished yet!
